Project detailsThe World Summit on the Information Society?Geneva 2003 and Tunis 2005? provides an opportunity to discuss issues raised by the emergence and current development of the Information Society. In December 2003, the Geneva phase brought together 13,000 participants, including 44 Heads of State, government representatives, as well as participants from civil society, the private sector and the media. A Civil Society Bureau was set up to facilitate the participation of civil society in the WSIS. In 2003, over 310 volunteers contributed 17,200 hours to various activities linked to volunteerism and the information society. ICVolunteers is also serving as the focal point of the WSIS Volunteer Family. During the first phase of the Summit.
