Project details

In the context of the Week against racism, held in Geneva from the 21st to the 28th March 2013, ICVolunteers joins the ongoing efforts of different institutions and associations present in the Plainpalais’ neighborhood, Geneva, in order to promote diversity and fight racism. Through different media, three events will question our relation with the migrants, with the others; in other terms, will offer diverse perspectives.

What do Sara, Ervis, and other migrants, more or less recently arrived in Geneva, think of our lifestyle, on the way they are welcomed or rejected here? What kind of welcome do our neighborhood offer to the migrants? Through the short films the have realized themselves, an interactive Theater-Forum and a concert, we invite you to exchange on the individual and collective perceptions that build our relations to otherness, racism and citizenship.

Along with the Haute école du travail sociale (HETS), Centre de la Roseraie, de l’UAC Plainpalais and ICVolunteers will participate to the Week against racism, by offering in its new arcade a world music concert, in the context of exchange and diversity.

On Saturday 23rd March 2013, several short films presenting portraits of migrants will be shown in different areas of the Plainpalais neighborhood. At the end of the day, with the Gypson Five band, sounds from the Balkans and the Orient will echo in the Rue de Carouge. The six members of the band, from various origins, ranging from Algeria to Slovakia, including Switzerland, will lead the last part of the weekly events “Plainpalais, Diverse perspectives”.
