Graduate Institute of Development Studies (IUED), Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD).
The conference was attended by researchers and specialist working in psychology, sociology, anthropology, linguistics, experts of development studies, engineers and others.
A current of thought has emerged in the past decade that awards priority to knowledge as a source of development. However, the relation between knowledge and development is hardly simple. On the contrary, it is problematic and events since the beginning of the twenty-first century underline the complexity.
In the face of these increasingly clear limits to the model of the 1990s, the aim of the event was to return to the problematical basis of the relation between knowledge and development. In addition to the strictly academic aspects, the event was an opportunity for cooperation agency officials, engineers and mangers to discuss political and technical issues related to development.
The two and a half days of the conference were devoted to the presentation of case studies and also work on concepts starting from vary varied approaches.
